Popular Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.

Will I receive every image you take?

No, because we eliminate test shots, duplicate images, and photos with bad expressions. Most couples average about 900 photos with 2 photographers for 8 consecutive hours and about 700 photos with 2 photographers for 6 hours. We do not promise a minimum or maximum photo count as each wedding is unique.

What do you mean by "Art" images?

The photos you see on our homepage and profile are mainly "art" photos. Depending on your photo collection you may receive up to 5 art photos from your wedding day. These are personally handpicked and edit by Steve Neilson. What you see can take him hours to edit 1 photo because he adds fog and filters to transform them into works of art that will be displayed in your home in the form of a canvas and/or album.

What does enhancement mean?

Enhancement photos are "filters" from B&W to a modern sepia tone. Depending on your photo collection you may receive up to 20 enhancements from your wedding day.

Do you "edit" all of our photos?

Yes, our photo manager (Kelly) personally culls and color corrects each photo by hand. She will crop photos when needed. She does take out some distractions in your photos. For example, if she sees a photo of you on a golf course and sees a random golfer in the back of your photos she will remove them. It is impossible for her to edit out every little detail.

Can I get the RAW files?

We do not provide RAW files from our sessions because they are unedited photos. We believe in delivering edit photos that are ready for you to post and print.

How many hours do I need for photography?

Every wedding is different. If you are getting married in a church and your reception is at another location, most couples average about 8 hours of photography. If your ceremony and reception are in the same location most couples average 6-8 hours. The more we know upfront about your day the better we can assist you with your wedding day timeline. Kelly is a master at day of wedding timelines and providing tips to help prevent delays. If you are personally finding yourself worried about time closer to your wedding day we can always add on hours.

When should we schedule an engagement session?

We recommend 6-8 months prior to your wedding. This gives you ample time to invest in any prints and/or a sign in guestbook album. When you make us official it is best to plan which month in advance. Busy season for weddings is from May-October which can limit our weekend schedules.

Do you pose us in every single photo?

No, it is impossible to pose you every photo in some situations. During your engagement session we will pose you to ensure you look your best even in candid photos. When it comes to your wedding day a majority of the day will be photographed as journalistic style. For example, during your ceremony we capture the moments as is. We will never make you stop right before your first kiss so we can pose you or ask your officiant to step aside if they forgot to do so. That would ruin the moment and have you and your guests confused on what just happened.

Why do you need so much time with the bridal party on the wedding day?

Your bridal party is a big deal! You chose them to stand up with you to help tie the knot. They are your hype people and why we take it to the next level with them. On average, it takes about 60 minutes with just the bridal party to get everyone together, the bride with all her people together, then individually with the bride, the groom with all his people together, then individually with the groom. With most weddings being all in one place we highly recommend getting most of these done before the ceremony, with or without doing a first look.

How much time do you need with us on our wedding day?

On average we do about 30 minutes with our couples. This is where we pose you the most on your wedding day. It takes time to set up our off-camera lights. It takes time to pose you as we are looking at small details. This is the best time to slow things down and just enjoy each other's company.

How long does it take to receive our photos?

Engagement photos take us 2-3 weeks to edit after your engagement session. Wedding photos take about 30 days to edit after your wedding.

Should we get wedding video?

You may not see the value in it right away. In fact, the biggest regret Steve has on his wedding day is not getting video the entire day. After his mother passed away, he would give anything to see video of him dancing with his mom on his wedding day. He also mentions that this was the first time his brother (who also just happens to be a really cool officiant and DJ) told him " I love you" for the first time.

What does highlight reel mean?

A highlight reel is a shorter edited video perfect for sharing with everyone online. This is a great way to relive your first look with each other, your bridal party showing off their personalities during photos, you walking down the aisle, seeing your first kiss, cutting your cake, to your first dances and more.
