Planning for your Engagement session
At Independence Grove
We have photographed here during all the seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. No matter the time of year, Independence Grove is one of our favorite locations to take engagement photos for couples who love nature.
What should you wear?
- Wear something that you feel comfortable in and LOVE!
- If you love to dress up we recommend one outfit to get some photos of you in formal wear and one outfit in casual clothes. Some couples bring their favorite sports jerseys to take a few photos together. You will have to change in your car.
- Avoid wearing tiny patterns. When looking on screens they look odd but the print just fine in photos.
- If anything wrinkles easily, we recommend not wearing it in the car ride over. If this is the case make sure you arrive a few minutes early to change into your outfit in your car.
Can you bring your kids or pets?
- You are allowed to bring children for a few photos. Please let us know ahead of time and make sure to bring someone to help watch them.

Where do we meet each other?
Note before entering park: If you do not have a Lake County driver's license, there is a small fee to enter IF someone is in the booth at the entrance. Check out the website and look for Entrance and Parking for fee information. www.lcfpd.org/ig/

- When you enter the park, keep to the right when the road splits.
- We typically meet couples in parking lot C/E on the left of the main road.
- The address we provide will take you to the building called Audubon Hall. We do not meet here. We like to go into the Native Garden near the main building.
